Olivia, You Gotta Help Me!

Hey there lovelies! Haha, it's late at night and I am really hyper. Things happen at 11 pm when you drink Starbucks. It doesn't even have coffee in it.
I decided that I want to start a Q and A sort of thing. Basically, you can ask me anything. It can be from my opinion of a certain hair product, book, or just help in everyday life. This will be a weekly series, so ask your questions in this post!
I will only be using the questions in this post, but I will remind you in other posts. I am going to use random.org to get 5 questions for each week, so it's important to put your questions in the comments. The only rules are that 1)The questions must be appropriate. Act as if you were asking them with Jesus sitting next to me. ; 2) You must be following my blog.  ; 3) The question needs to start with "Olivia, You Gotta Help Me!".  If you would prefer for your question to be anonymous, email me at colorcoordinated.olivia@gmail.com   and your question will be anonymous but will still be put into random.org. Ask away! Talk to you all tomorrow for my August Favorites!

xoxo,
Olivia

p.s. I am going to be redoing my room. My theme is pink antique. (yeah, it rhymes!) I like cream walls, white furniture, and cream and pink accents. I am going for a mature look. My room is fairly small. If you want to know the size go to CarlyCristman's room tour on youtube. I like that look. My room is slightly smaller than that.

MAC vs. Marilyn Monroe

*the photos may not be accurate. MAC has not determined anything that I am aware of.
Hey everyone! I feel like an official beauty blogger because I am one of the first people to hear about the upcoming MAC collection. (Efficiency!)

I heard about this on Temptalia, but didn't see pictures or any information, so this post may not be valid, but I hope it is. I found the information on The Sunday Girl. I suggest everyone starts saving up if we want anything, because these items will sell fast considering how much everyone is loving Marilyn right now. This collection comes out in October, so get ready!

Let's first take a look at the packaging. Typical Marilyn in black and white photography with red words. I'm not sure if the graphics on the packaging are stickers or are actually printed on. It looks like stickers though. It reminds me of the Disney Villains collection from MAC.

This collection includes a lot, so try not to cry when you check the bank. Considering this is special packaging, the prices of the items will be more.

Blackhead Facial

Hey everyone! I am a fortunate child who does not suffer with breakouts and pimples. Unfortunately, no one's skin is perfect, and blackheads are one of the most annoying things EVER! They never go away. Some people call me lucky, but luck should always come with a leprachaun. Mine comes with clogged pores.

I have blackheads all on my nose, and boy are they annoying. It seems like no matter what face wash I use, they will always be there. I found this and decided to try it and I love it. It really does clear up my skin.

Try a facial steam bath first (instructions below) then use the recipe, this will open up the pores as well as soften up the blackheads for easier removal.
1 TBS Unflavored gelatin
1 1/2 TBS Milk
  • Mix together the gelatin and milk then heat in the microwave for about 12 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir with a wooden stir stick (a clean one!). Generously apply to problem areas on the face. Be careful not to apply too close to the eyes.
  • Let completely dry (between 15 to 30 minutes) then carefully peel it off. The gunk clogging your pores will be stuck on the peel, the result is similar to the expensive removal strips you can buy.
  • After removing the peel, wash face in very cold water to close the pores.
Facial Steam Bath:
First wash your face with facial cleansing soap and water. Then fill a bowl with boiling water and place your face down close to the water to be near the heat. Cover your head with a towel to trap the steam around your face, stay put for about 10 minutes then make and apply the treatment peel above.
  • Optional: Add tea bags or Epsom salt or dried lavender to the boiling water.

This actually worked really well! I suggest trying it!

Hello Fall!

Hey everyone! As we start to get closer and closer to September, my wardrobe gets closer and closer to changing. Not only is my closet changing sleeve length, but there are a few leaves in my back yard that are already that beautiful orange. I can't even explain how excited I am to go and hear the crunch of leaves beneath my fall boots. But summer is a season that I will miss. It was full of laughter, it was full of adventure, and jam-packed of memories. And I loved every minute of it.

Now that I can start to think about the fall season, it excites me. I love this time of year because you can wear so many different things. If it's warm, you can pull out your favorite jean shorts. Yet, when it's chilly, you can wear a sweater and jeans and feel fine!
Today for you all I put together my Fall  must haves. Everyone should include these in their wardrobe.

The first thing that everyone needs is jeggings/skinnies. They tuck into boots really easily.
Next, everyone needs to have a plain shirt. Whether it be a v neck, a sweater, or a t-shirt, they serve as a perfect base for accessories.     I love scarves during any time of year, but especially for fall. You can throw some color in there, or go for a fun print .
Boots are an essential in any girls wardrobe. Wear them with jeggings or skinnies to create a perfect fall look.
If you are going to wear a scarf, go with subtle jewelry. I love studs because they don't get in the way. Edgy jewelry is a big trend this fall, so find some really fun ones!

What are your fall must haves? Tell me down below!

xoxo,
Olivia

By the way, I was looking on Covergirl + Converse this morning and read this verse. It really speaks to me, and I hope it does the same for you.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

EOS Lip Balm: Yay or Nay?

Hey everyone! It is time for the second edition of "Yay or Nay?" Today I am going to be talking about EOS Lip Balms. So let's start with the main question: Yay or Nay?

Everyone seems to love these guys. I personally don't like them. Whenever I review something I ask certain questions:

What is it?
What is the price?
Is the packaging good or bad?
Does it meet up to it's claims?
Is it worth the hype?

Let's start with the first question. What is it? EOS
lip balms (some people pronounce it eeyos<this is wrong) are a lip balm in a little egg shaped container. They are by the brand Evolution of Smooth. They supposedly have shea butter, Vitamin E, are gluten free, paraben free, and petrolatum free. (GOOD)

What is the price?  These lip balms retail for $3.29 USD. (GOOD)

Is the packaging good or bad? The packaging is cute, but storage wise it isn't very good. I can't store it in anything. (BAD)

Does it meet up to it's claims? EOS claims that this lip balm has long lasting moisture, it smoothes on clear, the smooth sphere precisely glides on to lips and has a twist off top. I will agree that it has the twist off top, but none of the other claims I agree with. It comes off red on my lips no matter what I do. It also does not "glide on smoothly", and does not have long lasting moisture. It only stays on my lips for about 10 minutes too. (BAD)

Is it worth the hype? I would have to say that this is not worth the hype. It may work for you, but this product is a nay for me. (BAD)

Do you like EOS lip balms? Do you like any other products from this brand? Tell me down below!

Olivia

Guest Blog: Taylor from Covergirl + Converse

Hey everyone. Real quickly I just want to announce that today is the first guest post on this blog! Thank you Taylor for doing this! I admire Taylor because she is so inspiring and has words of wisdom no matter what you're talking about. Her blog is great, and I am so happy one of her posts is going to be on my blog! Here it is!(:

Hi all! I'm Taylor and I blog over at CoverGirl + Converse. I am thrilled to be guest posting for Olivia today!
Now that fall is quickly arriving upon us, I am extremely excited for this shift of seasons {and style!}. Fall is probably my favorite season when it comes to fashion, just because of the many possibilities of what you can sport on a daily basis - it's not too cold, but still a little warm and breezy!
So today I thought I'd share with you three style trends that are perfectly fitting for the cool breezes of fall time: chucky sweaters, leather bottoms, and bold headwear. These three style staples actually go together quite nicely, so I put together an outfit combining these fun essentials! Take a look:

Fall Trends

This outfit has a unique and fun flair that's totally irresistible. The soft pom-pom sweater paired with sleek leather pants is an unusual, yet chic combination that is perfect for the fall! A braided headband, suede ankle boots, and a pop of green in the bangle gives this outfit the perfect touch.

It was so fun guest posting for Olivia today, and I hope you'll hop on over to visit my blog soon!

Would you consider working sweaters, leather pants, and fun headwear into your fall wardrobe?

xoxo

Braces 101

Hey everyone! It seems like everyone I know is getting braces, and I want to help. I have been through braces since 2008, so I definitely know a thing or two about them. If you need help with them, I'm your girl. Get ready for pictures of teeth.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW!

1- You get your braces done by the orthodontist. Not the dentist.
2- You can't just take them off when you want to. They stay on for atleast a year.
3- There's more to it than just braces. There's spaces are hilgers and stretch things. And then you wear rubber bands and retainers. You have a long way ahead of you. But trust me, it's worth it.

First Appointment: You meet the orthodontist and they measure your mouth. I have a tiny mouth. NOT FUN. You also get x-rays. Your mouth will feel funny because they put these clear things in so they can see all of your teeth.

Second Appointment: You get spacers. I actually really liked spacers. They feel like trampolines, and sometimes if you mess with them, they pop out. It's okay though. You can put them right back in and they will be fine.

Next few appointments: Braces. They will hurt. I'm not going to pretend like it doesn't. This is the time for Starbucks and frozen yogurt. I got a blanket, a spot on my grandmothers couch, and watched movies for a few days. Then I went back to school. Now everyone has braces, so you don't need to be scared of being called a brace face. Honestly, it could be a lot worse. You could have headgear.  You also get this thing that makes your jaws wider. You have to turn it. You can choose colors for your braces. Mine are teal.

If you're lucky, you will wear rubber bands to fix an overbite or underbite after about a year. If you are like me..then you don't get those until the second round. And you need to wear them. I didn't, and I have a big appliance in my mouth that hurts. WEAR THE RUBBER BANDS!

Brushing: It's pretty much the same, but longer. Brush around the brackets.
Flossing: You will get a special flossing tool from the drugstore.

That's all I know!(:

Good luck on your smiles!

xoxo, Olivia

Bow-tastic A DIY Project

Lately I have been going back to Macbarbie07's video on her bow bracelet. After months and months of laziness..I sat down and made one. And I'm really happy I did because I will be wearing this a lot!

If you want to watch Bethany's video, you can watch it here.

Materials
- faux leather, old grocery bag, pillow case or sheets, denim
- hot glue gun
-clasps, clamps, snap buttons, or stud earrings
-thread or yarn

Directions
1) Cut out your material into an oval shape that will fit around your wrist.
2) Pinch the material in the middle so that it creates a bow shape.
3) Wrap thread or yarn around the pinched area to secure it.
4) Cut out a small piece of matching material to hide the yarn/thread. Glue the material down.
5) Using snap buttons or a stud earring like I did, glue the stud onto the inside with the needle pointing out. Next, glue the back of the earring onto the other side of the bracelet to let the needle point out. Cut off the remaining needle.

That's it! Bethany's turned out better than mine, but I didn't have any old purses so I used a recyclable grocery bag!

Send me your pictures if you try this out at colorcoordinated.olivia@gmail.com

xoxo,
Olivia

If I Ruled The World

Hey everyone! I have been seeing a few people blogging about what they would do if they "ran the world". The things isI want to rule the world. So listen up citizens, as I am now your ruler.

1. If I ruled the world, you could choose what classes you wanted to take in middle school. If you don't give a crap about what "phase" the moon is in, you don't have to take science.

2. If I ruled the world, teenage males wouldn't try to impress girls by doing backflips.

3. If I ruled the world, I would date a guy who is tall and has brown hair.

4. If I ruled the world, competition cheerleaders would be nice.

5. If I ruled the world, I would be a Kardashian.

6. If I ruled the world, Miley Cyrus wouldn't have cut her hair.

7. If I ruled the world, Barack Obama wouldn't.

8. If I ruled the world, there would be no such thing as "buying a house". If you needed somewhere to live, you could live there.

9. If I ruled the world, there would be no writing exams.

10. If I ruled the world, a camera wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

11. If I ruled the world, a clairisonic would be 3 dollars.

12. If I ruled the world, makeup couldn't cost more than 5 dollars.

13. If I ruled the world, everyone would follow this blog. (I do rule the world...so yeah...the button's to the right. (:  )

14. If I ruled the world, California would love Chick-fil-a.

15. If I ruled the world, you could make McDonald's Sweet Tea in your own home.

16. If I ruled the world, everyone would be able to go to worship whoever or whatever they want..and not be arrested and/or killed.

17. If I ruled the world, I would live in Target.

18. If I ruled the world, Starbucks would be shipped to my house in pour and stirpackets.

19. If I ruled the world, Bloggers would be more popular than YouTubers.

20. If I ruled the world, I would give it to God.

Okay everyone...go and write your 20 things you would do if you ruled the world. If you don't have a blog, tell me the top three things you would do if you ruled the world in the comments!

Outfit of the Day: Anti-Teaparty 8/15/2012

Hey gals! Today is another outfit of the day. This outfit is very outside of my comfort zone because I feel like I never look good with shirts tucked in. I've been that way ever since third grade, so..
shirt: shirtdress Old Navy
shorts: Target
shoes: Vans
bracelet: American Eagle

This outfit is called "Anti-Teaparty". I thought it described it in whole. The navy shirt, shorts, belt, Vans, and my hair is straight, not in curls!  This is good if you are going to a football game, or just hanging out around the house.
Do you like this outfit? What is your favorite part? Tell me down below!

My New Obsession: "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together".

Hey gals! Last night I was on the Taylor Swift live G+ chat on youtube, and she announced some exciting news! She is coming out with a new album on October 22 called "Red."
Not only did she announce the album and the cover photo...

i love this by the way. the rocker side of her comes out in this.

...she also premiered her new single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together".  I love this song and have been listening to it on youtube over and over again. It hit number 1 last night on iTunes immediately after the chat. It is a feel good song that even if you aren't in a relationship or haven't been in one in a year (e.g. moi), you can still rock out to it with a hairbrush in your bedroom.
Even though some people say the lyrics are too young for her, I think everyone has a younger side to them. It actually helps me connect to her more.

Taylor is one of the only people I know that can pull off a red lip. Most of the time you have to be older to do that. I definitely can't wear red lips...at all. What about you? Can you wear red lips? Are you excited about the album? Tell me down below!

Miley Cyrus. Why, Why, Why?!

I can't even start this post the way I usually post it. It is just too depressing to do that.
Last night, I couldn't sleep so I grabbed my nook and got on twitter. I hadn't checked it in a while so I figured I might as well. I kept seeing people tweeting and re-tweeting about how they hate Miley Cyrus' new hair. So I looked, and to my horror.......
SHE CHOPPED OFF HER HAIR!
First of all, when people can truthfully say that you chopped off your hair, that lets you know that it wasn't a good idea. She looks like a 12 year old boy on a bad hair day. I don't understand why people like the pixie hairstyle so  much anyways. It isn't sexy.
Basically, a few years back, Miley said in an interview “One day I’m going to cut my hair like [Twiggy], I know I am” she said, referencing a photo of the British model framed in her dressing room. “I will one day.” If you ask me, she looks more like Draco Malfoy.

On twitter she counted down to doing it saying "It's happening", and then posted a picture of her hair about to be chopped off in a bun. And then, after every single one of her followers said "Don't, we love your hair!", she responded with a snippy attitude saying "if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all. my hair is attached to my head no one else's and it's going bye bye :)". Way to be strong girl, but still, you shouldn't post your life on the internet and expect everyone to encourage you. Take it from someone with personal experience. Online, people aren't always who they say they are. You should have known that your haters were gonna hate. Responding to them was where you went wrong.

What do you think of Miley's new do? Tell me down below!

Maybelline Lippies(:

Hey everyone! I love Maybelline and it is one of my favorite brands from the drugstore. It is affordable and the quality is amazing. There is a lipstick line that they have and it has some hits and misses. Let's go ahead and get started!
The collection is called the "Color Sensational Lipsticks", and I have them in three shades.
  1. Tigerlily Treat
  2. Twinkle
  3. Designer Pink
Tigerlily treat is a bright pink with blue undertones to help your teeth look whiter. It is creamy and a great color to pair with a neutral.

Next is Twinkle from the pearls collection. I happen to really like this one if you want to take a few extra steps. You have to have really moisturized lips with no dry skin. If you can accomplish that, then this is perfect with a smokey eye.

This last color is Designer Pink, and it is my least favorite. It is a very light color and can make your lips look like they aren't even there at all. I do not suggest this to anyone!

That's all everyone! Thank you for fifteen followers!

Olivia!

Wet n' Wild: Walking on Eggshells

Hey gals! Today is all about saving some cash! I recently picked up this eyeshadow trio from CVS for only $3! It is the infamous Walking on Eggshells trio by Wet n' Wild, and if you haven't heard of it by now, here's your chance!

This trio is very shimmery. It is very pigmented but not chalky. It stays on for a very long time with a primer. The "browbone" color is the only thing I don't like. It is too shimmery.
All in all, I think that for  the price, this trio is a very good value and it even comes with directions on how to use it.

Back To School Makeup

Hey gals! I know that school is just around the corner, and some of you may have already started. I'm  homeschooled, but I did go to school K-first-semester-of-seventh, so I know a thing or two about school and makeup.

First of all, some schools have uniforms, and some dress codes are a little harsh on makeup. And of course, every school has that girl who wears black eyeliner around her whole eye + false lashes. Trust me, that girl gets a lot of hate about that and you don't want that.

I hope that this helps people who are either just starting with makeup, on a budget, or just want a nice healthy look for school. Here are my tips!

FACE
1) I don't wear foundation because it honestly comes off during the day. Especially if you have P.E. No one wants to have to reapply foundation in front of everyone else. Stick to a BB Cream. I don't have any favorites, but Maybelline has a good one.

 2) Next is a powder. I love Physicians Formula's Healthy Wear Powder . It truly does make your skin look healthier and glowier(made up word of the day!)

3) Concealer isn't a must. If you don't want bags under your eyes, you can try Maybelline's Waterproof Corrector Concealer. It helps conceal under your eyes so well.

4) Finish off your face look with a little bit of a highlight and some light pink blush from Covergirl.

EYES

1) Start with a primer. e.l.f. actually has a Back To School Primer Set for only $3! The primer will help your eyeshadow stay on through that stressful math teacher.

2) Next is eyeshadow. Keep your eyeshadow simple. Go for a natural trio or quad. Maybelline has trios and quads that actually show you how to apply the eyeshadow.

3) Go for brown eyeliner. I love Maybelline's Define-a-Line Eyeliner  in brown. I apply eyeliner to my waterline only but you can apply it to your tightline. Just don't do both unless you want to look like raccoon.

4) Stick to a black mascara. Brown is going to look fake. Maybelline's Great Lash Original Mascara in black is an oldie but a goodie.

LIPS

1) Wear either a light pink lip gloss or a lip balm. Revlon Lip Butters are good but a little pricey. I love Wet n' Wild's Lip Balm.

You can put all of this into a makeup bag from Forever 21. I love the design of this one.
That's it! Love you all and thank you for 10 followers!

xoxo,
Olivia!

Rose Gold: A Thing of the Past?

Hey gals! Lately there has been some controversy on whether rose gold is still an "it" factor, or more last year than crackle nail polish. Personally, I love rose gold. It's golden, it's elegant, and it matches pretty much everything.

Are you still into this trend, or over it like last nights meatloaf?

Mascara Face Off : "The Falsies Knock Out"

Hey gals! Being thirteen, I try to keep my makeup focused on my eyes because I don't have much to cover up on my face. I don't even own a sample size of foundation. I do love mascara, though. It is a key ingredient in my everyday eye look, and I have plenty of them. I decided I would break them down for you all and I can show you my favorites. So, let's get down to business!

This is round one! These are the three mascara's that I have tried that claim to make my lashes look like they are false lashes. So, who's ready to wiggle??!! (their mascara wands?(: )

MAYBELLINE ILLEGAL LENGTH FIBER MASCARA
  1) This mascara does not clump.
2) This mascara is not long lasting.
3) This wand is long and thin.
4) This mascara makes your lashes look 3x longer.
5) This mascara is $8 at CVS.

MAYBELLINE THE FALSIES BLACK DRAMA MASCARA
1) This mascara does not clump.
2) This mascara is not long lasting.
3) This wand is thick and curved.
4) This mascara makes your lashes look fuller and longer.
5) This mascara is $8 at CVS.

BENEFIT'S THEY'RE REAL MASCARA
1) This mascara clumps.
2) This mascara is long lasting.
3) This wand is thick with a spike on the end to get on the inside.
4) This mascara makes your lashes long.
5) This mascara is $23 at Ulta and Sephora.

Basically, I Think the best mascara for my personal liking is MAYBELLINE ILLEGAL LENGTH FIBER MASCARA. It is good for the price.

xoxo, Olivia!
